Liberté, égalité et fraternité!

I am heading to Paris tomorrow for a weekend with Monsieur Jakob aka. Fresh Prince of Des Halles… I’ll be back in London Saturday, so no blog-posts before that - unless somebody hacks simplecommonsense and starts posting porn and pedophilic news stories (as hackers usually post about)!

As I am going and as I am aware of all of you being very sad of that, I have decided to post two pictures that I find amusing in some way or another. Let’s call it a gift from me to you as I am leaving you for three long days - I guess we can call it a farewell present actually.

Hopefully no explanation is needed for any of the pictures, so you won’t get any…

Marc of Härjedalen

I have earlier on this site written about influence, inspiration and rip-offs. Anyhow, its time to walk down Impact Lane again, as yet another celebrated designer has been discovered in borrowing a bit too much from others!

In the fifties Gosta Olofsson from Sweden produced about 1,000 scarves to celebrate Härjedalen, a city in the northern country. The scarves showed a small church, a river, wooden huts, bears, flowers, and the coat of arms of Härjedalen. And now to the funny part: famous Marc Jacobs produces the exact same “mountain” bandannas in his new spring/summer 08 collection - just not to celebrate northern Swedish village of Härjedalen, I guess? The scarves look exactly the same, except Jacobs’s version says “Marc Jacobs since 1984″ across the top (you thought nobody would notice?). Embarrassing? I believe it is…

Cold Winter - Stay Warm

London is not that cold, though I suppose my native Denmark is. But Danish fellowmen, stop complaining, cause now there is a top 3 of things that can keep you warm during winter!

1. Simply connect this pad, from my all time favourite e-Shop, to your USB and place your mouse on it, and it quickly warms up to keep your hands toasty.

2. Nail polish! This interesting “Warmer Nails” contain capsaicin and tourmaline essence, so it warms your hands (and feet) just by applying it on your nails. Amazing!

3. Combi’s diper warmer for children under the age of 5. Simply put the diper in the heater, and put it on your baby’s bottom and it would make a baby feel feel so much more pleasant.

Sebastien Tellier: Sexuality!

sebtelsig.jpg

Yesterday, Sebastien Tellier (the savoir of music) played an amazing free concert for a limited crowd in London to promote his new album; Sexuality. The album will be in stores from next week, but yesterday you could buy it, and as I was there, and it was absolutely fantastic, I bought the new album! After the show he signed records (mine is above) while speaking to his fans.

Unfortunately, the new album is not as good as the two earlier ones. I believe it is a bit more mature and less creative, although some of the tracks are absolutely stupefying . My personal favourites are: L’Amouret Laviolence, Divine, Kilometer, Sexual Sportswear and Roche - but I have only had the album for 17 hours, so at some point I guess it will change a bit through time as always…

I have also uploaded some pictures of the show and of me talking to my new friend Sebastien…

3 Million Records 300,000 Compact Discs 6 Million Song Titles

If any of you need to update your iTunes library, make sure you have the first CD ever produced or just feel a bit trapped in the whole indie rock phenomenon that makes you vomit - well, here is your answer! The World’s greatest music collection is now for sale on eBay with a starting bid of 3 million $!!

In the sellers own words this is everything ‘from Thomas Edison to American Idol, this is the complete history of the music that shaped and defined five generations’ so you have no reason not to buy this collection of music. If you decide to buy it, you should have in mind that it takes up about 16,000 square feet and that the shipping must be quite expensive as well!

The Nature of Chernobyl

These pictures portrait what an urban center would look like after years without human footprints!

The former nuclear power plant that used to be the workplace for thousands of people and later reason to their death is now turning into a ghost town where areas are covered in moss, grass and other plants. Space Collective is showing some amazing (and scary) pictures of the area that for the last 20 years have been the home of nothing except some stray dogs, but now also some of natures more orthodox elements!

RAW!

The fizzy caramel cola we all know is losing the artificial ingredients and are instead being replaced by apple extract, coffee leaf, cane sugar, and sparkling water. Delicious or disgusting? I believe the latter.

Besides that, the new cool bottle-design and the new identity makes it pretty much a bit cooler than the usual Pepsi! But be aware! This elegant and sophisticated Pepsi can only be found in the grey slums of London, Manchester, Glasgow, Brighton, Birmingham, Leeds and Liverpool!

Before long, a new re-branded ‘7UP FRESH’ will be introduced containing plum extract, sesame seeds, hair grease and urine. Can’t wait!

Letman: The Man With The Types

Letman, an young Netherlander, is apparently cuckoo about letters. All his typography is hand-made, and he has just started a new project called “De Grote Tekenshow” (The Grand Drawing Show) which comes down to live (bigscreen) illustration and animation.

Everything on his website looks pretty cool.

By the way!

If you are luckily enough to be in London tonight you should definitely come down to this partheeeee:
